So, I was very fortunate to get a sneak peek look at this short Sci-fi film. Justin Giddings & Ryan Patrick Welsh co directed and the trailer they have here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROVJphxoCtw&feature=youtu.be Is definitely a treat to behold, and sadly, until they release the film for the masses, it has to stay a secret, but I do get to review it. Run Time is seventeen minutes and thirty seconds.

Interest: My interest was sucked in from the get go. The visuals, actors, sound effects, the story everything is honestly amazing for such a small group to do all of this. The whole team pulled together a very fun, and feeling short film. I was enthralled by the whole film. I was just sad it was so short.

Acting: The acting, again for being a small team, is pretty astounding. I really have no gripes about the acting at all. From what we got to know of the characters in the film, they were all portrayed well, and didn’t crazily just decide to do something that went against what the character. It was a real treat to see some (to me) fairly unknown actors and actresses and directors came together to make such a stunning short piece.

Storyline: The storyline was simple, but evolved and became much more complicated in the short time this film had to do so. It didn’t become convoluted though, which some space films can do with all the science and   complicated back story. It figured out what it wanted to do, and did it so amazingly well that it doesn’t seem to have any plot holes or anything of the sort. It is a very good storyline film.

Audio: Audio I don’t typically do a section on audio, but the audio in this film fits it perfectly, from the music composition, to just noises, to people talking, it is an incredible film. I watched it and just it feels like everyone was on the same page for the whole process. Everything has a pujrpose, as well as (to me) sounding correct and in every instance of the seventeen minutes and thirty seconds, nothing ever sounds off or wrong.

Fights, Guns Or Otherwise: So there isn’t much fighting, but the big bad and our protagonist do have a pretty awesome fight, and there is some light negative banter between our two main characters. Other than that though, I’d say this film is pretty PG oriented, which is fine, I don’t expect every movie to just blow up the screen with gore or have The Dark Knight fight scenes. This film does (in my opinion) exactly what it needs in order to convey the emotions it wants.

Excitement: The Excitement of Outpost is incredible. It starts off slow for a moment, then things get exciting and a bit hectic real quick. There is a quick excitement of a major win and you just get sucked up into the moment, what feels like five whole minutes, when maybe at best a minute passes. They conveyed excitement in such a short time so perfectly that it feels like they did it with ease, as if it were another hour passing in the day.

Intensity: The film is filled to the brim with intensity. You almost feel like you’re in the film and you’re up to your eyeballs in intensity. It’s the situation you’re in, with the unknown just placed in front of you, that is to some extent terrifying, and cause some much tenseness in your back in neck that you almost lose sense of where you are and realty, and get sucked into the movies. I loved every minute of it.

Nudity: There is no nudity in this film, and it wouldn’t of hurt it or probably helped it I suppose. And I should note a man is shirtless so I’ll give it a sympathy point.

Visual: For such a small crew, Outpost really shines visually. The CG sun and any other cg effects look real enough that my brain isn’t sitting their going “Alright, this is fake, this is fake, this is real.” My mind was at ease the whole movie with the visuals, as they were beautiful, without trying to be Avatar or some other crazy CGI infused film. It knew what it wanted to do, and it did it to near perfection!

Logic: The Logic in Outpost was very sound. Things may not of been fully explained but for being seventeen and a half minutes, I really don’t expect everything to be tied up neatly without something lingering. But of what was explained to us and shown, nothing seems out of the realm of our universe, and nothing seems broken or needing to be reworked later as to try to cover the plot holes or explanations of why a character acted so crazy or strange.

So would I recommend watching this film? Oh HELL YES I would! If you get a chance to watch this short film, you will not regret it. This being said, I, in my own infinite stupidity thought this was a full length feature, so I was super bummed out when it was over very quickly, but hopefully there is a sequel in the making and I hope the praise I just gave the film, is the worst things that are said about the film, and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole film. Also if you are wondering why pretty much everything got 9’s across the whole bored it’s because honestly I’m selfish, and if it would have been just an hour long I would of given it 10’s it was that good.  Cheers to all the cast and crew and I look forward to review more of everyone's work! Until Next Time!
