Falling down is a 1993 film that is one hour and fifty-three minutes long. It is a crime, drama, and thriller. This is a fairly well known film that seems to be liked fairly well by most (IMDB, and Rotten Tomatoes give it fair praise, metacritic has it sitting at a 50%) It also stars Michael Douglas, Robert Duvall, and Barbara Hershey, among others. The quick summary of this movie is a defense worker that is unemployed, becomes angry at things he sees in society, and begins to lash out at them. Let’s go see if this movie is any good, shall we?

Interest: The movie is fairly interesting, unraveling the incredible craptastic day someone is having, and it just goes from bad to worse, and never lets up. I won’t say it had me screaming or drooling for the next sequence, but it made me want to finish it, and I enjoyed it. I did stop it a few times for potty breaks and other things, but anyone could probably watch this movie through easily.

Acting: The acting is pretty solid in this movie. No one is unbelievable and everyone is able to work with and mesh well together. Everyone pulls their weight, and makes a great show happen for almost two whole hours.

Storyline: The storyline is fun, serious, and solid. Honestly, it may be a little simple at the heart of things, but it is fleshed out enough that you may over look the actual shallowness of the story. But there are no plot holes, nothing to honestly complain about, just nothing spectacular either.

Crime: There is a lot of crime in this film, mostly just murder and hate crimes, plus violating a restraining order. Now there is more besides that, and I’d hate to ruin everything for you, but there aren’t any drug deals going down, and no one is like snorting coke off a clowns boner. it’s just simple violent fun.

Fights, Guns Or Otherwise: The fights in this film aren’t anything fantastic, but they are entertaining and fun. The physical fights have just enough of a serious tone that you probably won’t laugh, but aren’t serious enough to think of it as a true action sequence. The verbal fights, are pretty just okay, nothing that is outstanding or warranting any real notice, the dialogue just helps lubricate the action to the next sequence really.

Excitement: The movie has an odd pacing, which wasn’t exciting or boring, it was honestly just average in the excitement department, and that’s really sad for a movie with an explosion in it. That being said, the movie doesn’t do anything wrong, it just doesn’t do much to conjure excitement.

Drama: The drama in this film is pretty large, our main character transforms from a mild-mannered man, to pretty much losing his mind over things that were his fault and not societies. We see a cop that’s been at a desk nearly his whole career transform into a street detective on his last day, and become really good at it, and many other nice transformations, and cogs that rub against one another to cause development of character.

Nudity: There is no nudity in this film, and honestly, was kind of expecting some in this film. It just has that weird feeling that, there would be a scene in which our main character, just happens to waltz in on a naked woman or man. But it really wouldn’t of helped the film I suppose, just seems like for once, it seems weird that there isn’t a nude scene.

Thriller: So while I may of watched many films, I honestly didn’t know what a thriller film is, so I looked it uP and https://www.filmsite.org/thrillerfilms.html defined it as If the genre is to be defined strictly, a genuine thriller is a film that rentlessly pursues a single-minded goal - to provide thrills and keep the audience cliff-hanging at the 'edge of their seats' as the plot builds towards a climax. The tension usually arises when the main character(s) is placed in a menacing situation or mystery, or an escape or dangerous mission from which escape seems impossible.” so with this defined, I would say this movie is thrilling, our main characters are working towards their own single minded goals, very little plot points interfere with them, and I suppose both provide thrills, not to the extent I would probably say it should, but it does follow this formula to a T.

Logic: Logic in the film seemed at least solid, some things seemed a little far fetched, and possibly even strange, but nothing is immersion breaking. I can’t really say much else about this without rambling.

So do I suggest this film? Eh I’m siding on a no. I’m not saying it’s bad by any means, but it just isn’t fantastic on any fronts really. It seems like a whole movie, with missing heart, or soul, or something, I can’t honestly put my finger on it. It is at least semi fun, and could be fun to rip on with some friends. But otherwise I firmly believe you can skip this one. 55% is what the scores rank up to. Sorry for the delays for reviews, just been busy with work and life. Hope to be a little more consistent, otherwise, I might become the JonTron of reviews. But, Until Next time!
