Creep is a 2014 horror thriller film. It is on Netflix. It is also the first of three films ( the third one isn’t out yet) but the second one is out on Netflix also. The movie only has to main actors, Patrick Brice (Known Creep, The Overnight, Creep 2, and Safety Not Guaranteed) and Mark Duplass ( Safety Not Guaranteed, Creep, The One I Love, and the Lazarus Effect). The run time is one hour and seventeen minutes. A quick review of this movie is “ A man answers an online ad for a job of record the last messages of a dying man, but things turn weird after the recording.” Some say this film is one of the weirdest and scariest on Netflix, let’s see how it holds up shall we?

Interest: My interest in Creep is incredibly high, which is nice considering most things that I was watching recently was very bland and boring. Since as I found out that most of this movie was mostly improve, makes this movie that more impressive and interesting. Plus the story and the charecters just work together fluidly in a very fun way that at least holds my attention. Plus, the camera work is in POV, which is nice and done very well.

Acting: Acting is a great thing in the movie. I thought that two characters just by themselves might be a struggle, especially since to me, I only know them from this film. But that being said, they are an amazing duo and it is a fun and crazy ride that doesn't slow down, and one of them actually does so well at their job, I’m sure it’ll creep a few people out.

Storyline: The storyline I think is strong with no major plot holes, and it doesn’t reveal its secrets to early. It paces well, but does have a sudden change in direction from harmless to Scary and disturbing quickly. It all meshes well to make you want to keep watching, assuming you can get over the awkwardness that is pretty pertinent throughout the film.

Intensity: The film uses intensity in a more unusual way, it plays with it, almost making you think that intense things won’t be intense, then all of a sudden the intensity is just poured on. It hits a weird spot of intense and scary. It blends the unknown and known of knowing someone for a short time and trusting them.

Fights, Guns or Otherwise: The physical fights are very small and more left to the imagination, but verbal, and in this movies case, mental fights are a large thing to think of. Verbal fights are about just being mean or very passive aggressive. It’s like a teenager trying to have a relationship passive aggressive. And mentally comes from our aggressor sending creepy tapes to our other main character. They are psychologically abusive and creepy.

Nudity: There is no nudity in this film. It’s bone dry of nudity, and that is totally fine. There wouldn’t be a good use for it to move the story. It would be just blatant nudity, and while that can be okay, it wouldn’t of worked for this film at all.

Horror: The horror in Creep is spectacular. It is honestly creepy, and makes hairs stand up. It isn’t gory, and it isn’t grotesque, it is honestly the best way I can think of stating it is creeping, it’s preying on the niceness of others in a way that is different then most. I don’t want to ruin to much but it is good.

Gore: There is no “traditional” gore in the film. I’d even go and say it’s gore-less. There’s no blood, no guts, not anything that would make the squeamish typically go “Ewww, I think I’m going to throw up.” or “ Oh my goodness, I’m going to faint.”. Near the end of the movie there could be considered something gory but I personally don’t see it that way.

POV: The movie uses POV to a extremely good effect, as it’s exactly what the film needed, if it was shot any other way, it would of felt weird and wrong. They use it well, even the characters swapping the camera to talk into it. I think it’s really captivating and fun.

Logic: The logic in the film is pretty good, although while thinking about this film, one thing that has bugged me is our good guy sadly doesn’t contact the police more. This could of in theory worked out better in his favor, but besides that, everything is fairly logically sound and for the context the movie gives, seems smart and thought out besides the one point I just gave.

So, would I recommend this movie? Absolutely! The film is fun and a real treat! It’s also pretty short, so it is totally worth the watch at an hour and seventeen minutes. It I think is highly under rated, and needs to be seen by more people! The awkward moments break down the tension and sense of security to let you be scared. It’s a lovely thing that I am actually happy to review. It’s final score is 66% which doesn’t seem fantastic, but the Devil is truly in the film in this one, but Until Next Time!
