2 Dead 2 Kill is a 2013 film. It is an action, crime, thriller film. Its run time is one hour and thirty minutes. The three main stars are Jill Andre (Known for The Runaways, The Master, Two of a Kind, and Milo), Katherine Bailess (Known for Hit the Floor, One Tree Hill, Gilmore Girls, and From Justin to Kelly), and I. Elijah Baughman (Known for Tom Segura: Mostly Stories, The Friendly Dope Dealer, Murder Rap: Inside the Biggie and Tupac Murders, and Karter Hall). There are two directors of this film, Michael J. Hach (Only known for 2 Dead 2 Kill) and Neil Kinsella (Known for Downstream, Cyberkidz, 2 Dead 2 Kill, and Losing the Light) A quick summary of the film is “A drug addict tries like hell to find $8 million worth of heroin, while chased by the city’s rival mob bosses and gangs.” Let’s take a look at the categories shall we?
Interest: The movie is very dull. It is meant to be high intensity, high throttle, but the quality of the film (Looks like a 1990s hand camera For the public) and the story, the film, and acting all was mediocre enough that I honestly only remember a couple of fights and “The Da Vinci Code” book puzzles in the film.
Acting: Acting in 2 Dead 2 Kill was about as good as the title is. It is just good enough so you don’t hate it, but definitely not good enough to not let you notice. Everyone at best is just a drone (One has a reason, he is getting over heroin addiction cold turkey). The bad guys in the film have some decent acting, and seem to be much more humorous, most of the time unintentionally. I will say this is almost a TV movie from the 90s in the idea of the quality of acting.
Storyline: The storyline is supposed to be action drugs and more action. What really happens is heroin trip, heroin withdraw and an Easter egg hunt for $8 million worth of heroin that gangs are fighting for. It is a mess that honestly made me want to turn it off after thirty minutes.
Intensity: The movie, dealing with drugs, and gang lords should be intense, feel like something is on the line, worth fighting for. Right? Well this one is sadly a sad cabbage in the land of meats. What I mean is this movie just doesn’t know intensity, unless it's a mob boss doing something pretty extreme to a lackey (only happens twice in this flick), otherwise, it is a real uneventful film in the idea of drugs, and at least a glimpse at the criminal underworld.
Fights, Guns or Otherwise: There are some gun fights, some verbal razors, and no PTSD scaring. Fight wise the gun play is just barely making a passing grade. They exist and realistic things happen when people are shot. And some heated things are spoken to, or at one another in the films, which makes me happy that at least in this film they try to do something right. The movie should have stuck to this formula, as the formula they are using is definitely not working for them.
Nudity: There is no nudity in the film, and as of late I feel like I am a broken record of this, but since this film had few redeeming qualities, and something, anything being naked might be some sort of actual helpfulness for the film.
Director Score: The directors of this film as much as I’ve ripped into this film, had a budget of #300,000. That being said, I’ve seen movies with less and similar budget do better than this film. I’ve seen better costumes, better acting, better ideas in general, just be brought to the silver screen. It was just so bland and dull. The movie will be lost to the voids of purgatory.
Musical Score: The musical score is some sort of rock ‘N’ roll and metal combined, but never helps make the scene. It sounds decent, and is from what I can tell instrumental, but it just doesn’t mesh with the scene, and not adding value to the experience.
Dialogue: Dialogue in the film is decent. Nothing peculiar, strange or odd that is said or done. I wouldn’t say everyone talks like a normal person, but for the most part no one seems like they forgot what English is.
Logic in the Film: The films logic was fine, No crazy stunts that make no sense, nothing that makes you question what world they’re in. Everything is clean, okay and not out of the ordinary, which this could be something that they could have warped some to get the movie to be less mundane.
So, did I like the movie? No, I wish I’d watched something else. Do I recommend it? Well if you want a movie that is clearly there to be ripped on, but not doing anything memorable, at all. It was so boring and just lacking of anything that would cause joy in one's life. I try to just report facts and be diversive, but this film just is boring, nothing really happens to an extent that you feel like it was worth it. The other problem is that I’ve seen so many other films that do this concept way better, that this one didn’t even try to do something quirky to try to stand out from the crowd that it is trying to emerge from. I will say you just shouldn’t worry about this film really existing. The score is 44%, and please don’t watch it. Until Next Time!
