Blood
Punch is a horror/thriller film. It also seems like it has some humor
mixed in as well, So let’s see if this film is any good shall we?
Interest:
The movie is interesting, actually that may be an understatment, one
of the main characters is crazy and it makes semi normal moments
actually either funny or terrifying. The story is told uniquely and
the shots are shot well. It held my attention very well.
Acting:
All actors that I don’t believe I’ve seen in other movies, but
that being said, they act very well. The nervous guy is clearly
nervous, but not a nervous wreck, just uneasy. The power couple are
both into each other and clearly the man is controlling, but that is
what he does, and he does well. I enjoyed the whole thing. Granted
they aren’t going to win any oscars or anything, but it was fun for
what it is.
Storyline:
I hate to be able to boil this down fairly easy, but its like
groundhog day but with a major horror camp element. I enjoyed it
thoroughly and I won’t spoil much of it but there are like a
thousand ways people die. The plot doesn’t have any holes that I
can see, and it seems like a very solid movie, albeit funny and odd.
You may not see the twist that happens.
Humor:
While I said the acting was good, the crazy guy, while is supposed to
be an absolute loon, is either really creepy or really funny so it
gets high marks in this for me. But also it is genuinely funny as
well. I had to pause it once or twice for it catching me off guard
and I just chuckled for a bit.
Fights,
Guns or otherwise: Thee is a lot of verbal battles that go on, as
well as many people dying over and over again. Not really so many
fights, as pretty much just a swing or two then dead. But to counter
balance that, there were honestly 20 or 30 deaths in this film, which
to me does matter and count towards this score.
Excitement:
This movie starts off strong and fast, in the best way possible. And
then it slowly turns itself down into a more slow paced film. But
that is to show off the problems that are brought up in the film.
Then it heats up at the very end, and just like that, it’s over.
Horror:
This film isn’t scary, and I guess I wouldn’t personally consider
it a horror film unless you just find death scary in films. While I’m
not necessarily disappointed, I’m not thrilled by this not being a
horror movie either.
Nudity:
There is no nudity, it wouldn’t of helped the film. There is
however lots of suggested sex, and that may warrant a point of
interest. But other than that it is wholesome on the nudity side of
things.
Gore:
The film is pretty gory. Mostly from the problem that arises in the
film. But it still causes lots of bloodshed, dismemberment and many
other bloody gross things to happen, plus if puke sounds make you
want to puke, this film will make you disgusted and you will not want
to watch this fine film.
Logic:
Blood Punch’s logic was sound and solid. It was a partial mystery,
and yet straight forward. The ride was enjoyable, and no glaring plot
holes to really be spoken of. They even tried out multiple ideas and
came to conclusions of how those ideas work. They started off small
and went big, and came to what I thought was a fun and even thrilling
conclusion.
So
do I recommend Blood Punch? Yes, but only if you don’t mind puking
noises and a fair bit of gore. If you don’t then don’t watch it,
but for those of you that are into a bit of strange and fun “horror”
movies, then this one is for you. I would gladly watch it again, and
be totally content with that, even if it was tomorrow that I would be
doing it.
