Cock Blockers or blockers by it’s actual spelled out title, is a fairly good comedy starring Leslie Mann, John Cena ( who we never see… Just kidding) and Ike Barinholtz as parents who find out a plot of their of age kids prom who are going to “Score”. Their kids are played by Kathryn Newton, Geraldine Viswanathan, and Gideon Adlon. They all do well and have a lot of energy, and work off one another well.

Interest: Blockers kept my interest the whole movie, either things were high energy, or I was laughing at the jokes or situations that happened. I think we all know some over worried parents (and some parents that nearly don’t care) so I think everyone can pretty much relate to this movie, and the things that happen, and if it didn’t happen to you, you may know someone who it did happen to.

Acting: I thought the acting in this was pretty good, no one broke character. Every one had a place, and they all did it so well, it really seemed like everyone was on the same page and fed off of each other. It was nice to see a modern comedy movie not be a remake and still be fairly funny and entertaining without it being really dumb and lack luster at the same time.

Storyline: So the storyline wasn’t bad, overly worried parents that are freaking out that their kids made a sex pact and that they were going to lose their virginity on Prom night. And it goes many different people’s homes, schools and a hotel, all making sense and all being a cohesive story. It even ties up nicely at the end.

Comedy: In Blockers, it is pretty funny from start to end, there is a small time where things start to heat up for this comedy at the beginning, but it sets up the rest of the movies for fun and laughter. None of the jokes I thought missed any marks, and everything just worked. Nothing was forced, but that also means nothing really new was tried either.

Fights Guns or Otherwise: There was a physical “Fight” that happened, Otherwise it was all verbal combat between actors, which was great for funny banter, and even some good emotional communication. This movie surprised me when it was more that a recent comedy, it actually had some depth to it.

Excitement: There was excitement and some things were tense as the movie. Lot’s of as I like to say “Oh Shit” moments where things get heated, but it’s a comedy so it was a lot of fake outs.

Mental Breakdowns: So while this is a joke category on a comedy movie, this happened a lot more than I actually expected, which isn’t bad, it shows to movie has depth, and it does. It is genuinely nice to see a break from all the jokes for more serious moments, moments that make you partially realize this is a serious thing these parents are worrying about.

Nudity: This did have some nudity, A guys ding dong and his wife's milk missiles, and some of that John Cena butt, but otherwise it is fairly non nude, and while some of these parts didn’t really need to happen, the scenes were funny and great parts of the movie, and would make the movie feel incomplete without.

Uniqueness of Drug Recipes: So there’s a kid called “The Chef” who makes drugs, but also he bakes and makes food with the drugs that are works of art. The writers had a very special way of looking at things that are impressive and considering I’ve seen some crazy drug movies, this was a special treat that while being a joke category, really fit in well and made me really question things.

Logic: I feel that the movies logic fit well, Nothing really happened that couldn't happen in real life, besides I feel like one stunt, and that had to do with car physics. Otherwise, after we met the characters, saw where they came form and how they felt everything fit into place and we saw how the kids were just barely one step ahead, but into today’s age, it’s not hard to do that, parent’s just are really far behind the times, potentially more that they ever have.

All in all I thought Cock Blockers/ Blockers was an overall enjoyable film. Was it perfect? No, but it didn’t need to be. Very few movies have maybe ever been perfect. And that’s okay, because as long as the audience enjoys it, that’s all that really matters. I will gladly watch this film again with friends or really anyone, even by myself because while it may be not a fully in depth movie (Like Blazing Saddles) it is still for a modern comedy, a good watch. 74.5/100 Pretty solid will watch again.
